Every era of the web so far was built for someone else — universities, then the data brokers who turned your attention into a market, then the AI that reads everything you publish. Each added an axis. None added the one that matters most: control of the compute, the network, and the data underneath. That is the axis Web 4.0 closes.

How it works — the key technologies

None of this is speculative. Every piece is production technology, deployed today.

  • Self-hosted — you hold the keys. Your workloads on hardware you own, on-premises or at the edge. Be your own service provider.
  • Mesh networking — no single point of failure. Peer-to-peer connections (LoRaWAN / Meshtastic) route around damage, outages, and gatekeepers.
  • Post-quantum — secure for what comes next. Cryptography that survives quantum attacks, modeled on the US DoD’s NIPRNet / SIPRNet segmentation discipline.
  • Offline-first — runs on limited power, or none of the grid. Energy-efficient systems that cache locally and keep working with intermittent connectivity or no uplink at all.

What it stands for — the six principles

  • Trustless — cryptographic verification, no trusted intermediaries. You don’t have to trust us; that’s the point.
  • Ownership — complete control over your digital assets and infrastructure. No revocable licenses.
  • Safe — airgap-first nodes, on-premises data, modern encryption.
  • Ethical — federated nodes, accountable to the communities that run them.
  • Equitable — equal participation regardless of background or resources.
  • Sustainable — local processing that cuts energy waste and latency.
